conveyed under the trees
Today I thought I’d write about ikebana. Ikebana is the Japanese art of flower arranging. This time-honored art form encapsulates the essence of nature and humanity combined.
Ikebana likes to enhance not so much the flower itself, but the body of the plant, i.e. stems and leaves, with particular emphasis on shape, line, and form.
With discipline and restraint, the artist’s creative expression comes to life. With complementing shapes, colors, and form, the true nature of the artist appears. The minimalistic approach is centered on the three points of a triangle, representing heaven, earth and man or the sun, the moon and earth.
Practitioners of this ancient Japanese method prefer to do it absolute silence, so that they may better listen to the plants and their surroundings, as they reflect on human nature.
So remember, every now and then to have a silent moment. Nature is speaking.

As the snow thaws, the city around us is getting ready for the estimated 1.5 million tourists about to descend on us for the National Cherry Blossom Festival, beginning March 22. While the exact blossoming of the trees is not a perfect science, the trees are expected to be in peak bloom April 6-8 this year.
There are many events that go along with the blossoming of the cherry trees. From large scale galas like the Pink Tie Party at the Ronald Reagan Building to smaller, privately thrown garden parties, DC is full of social gatherings. And Greenworks is here to help you make the best of them with our beautiful creations.
Along with our design team, we will turn your visions into masterpieces.
For years Greenworks has been lighting and decking the halls of homes and hotels of D.C. These are some of our favorites we wanted to share with you.
This year a tree full of wishes could be found entering the Ritz Carlton Downtown. It was quickly bare as guests granted Christmas cheer.

Greenworks would like to share that we had such an amazing experience sponsoring the AMPs (Association of Meeting Professionals) Sail into Summer meeting last week at Hotel Monaco-Alexandria. This was AMP’s final monthly meeting of the year and it was an awesome way to start the Summer out right with a “Summer Bash”! The evening began around 5pm in Hotel Monaco’s Outdoor Terrace where there was plenty of networking opportunities, fantastic food, entertainment, and amazing raffling drawing.
It was a lovely afternoon for Greenworks to set up and enjoy the arrangements that complimented the Nautical theme. We made sure to jazz up the patio with our stunning creations and were so pleased to hear that everyone loved them!
